Maintenance Technician

The Part-Time Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in the upkeep, appearance, and functionality of the TolHouse property—inside and out. This individual ensures that our facilities remain safe, clean, and visually polished, handling a wide range of light maintenance and repair tasks across our spaces. You’ll work closely with our operations team to respond to day-to-day needs and help keep TolHouse running smoothly and beautifully.

Key Responsibilities

  • General Maintenance & Repairs:
  • Perform basic plumbing repairs (e.g., fixing minor leaks, unclogging drains).
  • Conduct minor electrical tasks (e.g., replacing bulbs, resetting breakers).
  • Complete small-scale carpentry tasks such as mounting fixtures or furniture repairs.
  • Assist with paint touch-ups and surface refinishing as needed.

Facilities Upkeep:

  • Maintain cleanliness of exterior areas (entryways, sidewalk, parking areas, patios).
  • Perform light landscaping duties (sweeping, trash pickup, snow/ice removal as needed).
  • Conduct basic interior cleanup in common areas (e.g., wiping down baseboards, wall scuffs, etc.).

Aesthetic and Space Management:

  • Hang and rearrange artwork, photos, and wall fixtures across TolHouse.
  • Assist with occasional furniture rearrangement or event setup/breakdown.
  • Maintain storage areas in an organized and functional condition.

Preventive & Routine Tasks:

  • Conduct weekly walkthroughs to identify repair or safety issues.
  • Report supply or equipment needs for timely resolution.
  • Monitor building systems and identify issues early.

Support During Events (as needed):

  • Assist with setup/teardown of equipment or furnishings for events.
  • Be available to troubleshoot small facilities issues during event hours, when scheduled.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in general maintenance, handyman work, or a similar role.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, painting, and carpentry.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, use ladders, and perform manual labor.
  • Professional, reliable, and takes pride in keeping things well-kept and operational.
  • Strong communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.

Preferred But Not Required

  • Experience working in hospitality, clubs, or commercial buildings.
  • Familiarity with using power tools and basic safety practices.
