Junior Barista & Host

As a Jr. Barista & Host, you will play a dual role supporting our beverage operations and providing exceptional host services across all TolHouse venues—including our coffeehouse, bars, and lounge. You will assist with preparing and serving a variety of beverages, as well as performing general food service functions such as running food, bussing tables, and checking guests into events. Your role is essential to maintaining the inviting atmosphere and high standards of service that define our club.

Requires entry-level skill with preparing coffees, drink beautification, and communication, and a strong commitment to customer service and hospitality.

NOTE: This is a part-time role, between 10-30 hours per week.

Pay: $15/hr (tips are not applicable)

Direct Responsibilities (Summary):

  • Support the Barista by preparing and serving coffees, teas, alcoholic beverages, smoothies, and other drinks, following prescribed recipes while showcasing creative flair.
  • Mix beverages using an extensive range of ingredients including liquors, bitters, soda, water, sugar, and fruits.
  • Ensure workstations, bars, and coffee areas are clean and well-stocked (includes tasks such as silverware wrapping, garnish prep, and equipment setup).
  • Greet Members by name, delivering a friendly, professional, and personalized experience.
  • Educate Members and their guests on our beverage offerings by presenting and explaining the drink menu.
  • Assist with food service duties—running food orders and bussing tables to ensure efficient service.
  • Support event operations by checking guests in and helping with seating as needed.
  • Maintain inventories by replenishing supplies such as coffee beans, brewing equipment, pastries, and cookies.
  • Process payments and manage POS transactions efficiently.
  • Check identification and verify legal age requirements when serving alcoholic beverages.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain equipment through preventive maintenance and timely repairs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure smooth operations across all venues.

Qualifications

  • Entry-level training or experience in customer service and hospitality
  • Strong desire to learn the barista craft
  • Computer and POS literacy
  • General knowledge of drink mixing and garnishing
  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
